Carrelet has been designed to work in multilingual environments. In general, the default language will be the one that you wish to display on your website. However, it may be that, for example, you have several Carrelet accounts, and you wish to include a section in another language. The site language option enables you to do this.
Note that this setting does not change the language used to edit the site. If, for example, your version of Carrelet runs in English, and you set the site language to French, the prompts and menus on the Carrelet control pages will remain in English. All that changes is the automatically generated text, for example prompts on email forms that appear on the website. This also means that if you want to include pages in French, but do not need any automatically generated text, the site language setting makes no difference!
By default, Carrelet uses the ISO Latin 1 character set, which can handle most Western European languages. If you want to publish pages using other character sets, you may need to select a different character set. Note that this does not change the character set for the Carrelet control pages, so some characters may not display correctly when they are typed in.
